Hello, Sarah,

I'm back to London. Finally, finally :)

My shoes are still fine. I can have spare shoes now. But socks...I have to wash again. ha ha

It was really nice to meet you in Belgrade, by the way. I'll give you a ring later.

See you soon hopefully,

K

I agree, it is special to travel by land. It gives you a sense of the gradual change.

But flying into a city gives you that immediate shock. That sense of difference. Being in west London at lunch and south Damascus in the evening is very disorientating. And I like that.

I remember when Eurostar first opened. It felt like I hadn't really left London. Unless I listened carefully for the different language - standing on the RER platform at Gare du Nord felt like I could've been at Waterloo.

Cherubim are pretty low-ranking. Archangels on the other hand, like Gabriel, are very senior. You couldn't have a low-ranking angel handling the annunciation for example.

It's like that well known phrase, 'don't send a cherub to do archangel's work.'

Yes. It was like this on the way from Bulgaria and over the border into Serbia where you get incredible, craggy mountains. The train passes right next to the slopes. You feel as if you are inside the mountain and you can see all the trees really clearly.
